Growing up in the Bronx, Palma Rhoades studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Now she works out of her studio in Kennesaw painting in oils and sculpting in clay. “I am happy to talk with you about creating your one-of-a-kind work of art. Oil
Oil is foundational. It reaches back through time to the Masters yet embraces the new. I find landscapes particularly evocative. “Painting from nature is not copying the object; it is realizing one's sensations.” said Paul Cezanne.
Clay
Clay has the longest memory of the arts. From the very beginning, the first human touch is embedded in stone carvings and clay figures infused with our longing and vision. In the words of Nathaniel Hawthorne, “Moonlight is sculpture; sunlight is painting.”
My Latest Passion
I find the grace and strength of the creatures of the wild both inspiring and humbling. They mesmerize and astonish me as my brush strokes join to reflect their beauty. Enjoy my visits with a mother bear and her cubs, in the crosshairs of a solitary bison bull’s gaze, or just gazing out across the wilderness.
